GRAPH_3D is a software option for RASv2, especially designed and developed for users who need to go one step further into the fully quantitative interpretation of interferometric fringe patterns, for application in optical metrology.

This GRAPH_3D program is adapted for applications in holography and interferometry, or for use with an industrial Laser Moiré interferometer camera. This interactive evaluation procedure can be applied to many kinds of interferograms, in both vibration and deformation analysis and measurements.

Each fringe pattern on the video monitor will first be digitised. For this purpose, the operator points the mouse to locate the fringes, and uses the keyboard to introduce the fringe order at the start of each fringe scan. He is in full control of the acquisition procedure. He can determine the number of points chosen in the image, hence decide the way the fringe processing will take place and how it will be performed.

Then the interpretation is done after choosing the proper mode and evaluation procedure for either time average or subtraction mode fringes. The full interpolation and the graphical calculation will lead to 3D- and 2D-plot representations of the amplitudes of vibration or deformation. Output graphs can be 3d-plots, contour plots and multiple cross-sections (along any broken line).

Plots of vibrating or deformed objects can be generated which will illustrate the different amplitude information which were calculated. Several parameters can be changed for the optimum representation of different results.

The 3D- and 2D-plots can be displayed on a color computer screen, transferred to the video system and/or printed on a standard line printer (24-pin or laser). Binary or ASCII files containing the amplitude values at interpolated points are provided for use in any external computer program for further analysis (finite elements, modal analysis,..). Results are used to create a MSExcel compatible file.

GRAPH_3D is a powerful software complement to the RAS package, for the quantitative fringe interpretation and the 3D representation of vibration and deformation amplitudes.
